Parents rejoice! Michelle Obama has begun reading her favorite children’s books with PBS every Monday on YouTube and Facebook. This week, she started with one of our favorite storytime books, The Gruffalo! This is the story of a tiny mouse taking a stroll through the dark woods, where he invents the monstrous Gruffalo to keep himself safe from the animals he meets along the way. Imagine his surprise when he comes face-to-face with the wart-ridden, prickly Gruffalo he invented! A charming adventure with bouncing rhyme and beautiful artwork, The Gruffalo is a book that begs to be read aloud. It’s the perfect book for any parents looking to explain the importance of wit and imagination! Tune in next Monday for her reading of There’s a Dragon in Your Book. Here is the full schedule:
- Tom Fletcher’s There’s a Dragon in Your Book on April 27
- Eliza Wheeler’s Miss Maple’s Seeds on May 4
- Eric Carle’s The Very Hungry Caterpillar on May 11
