There's just something about a well-paced, surprise-laden, twist-filled thriller that hits the spot among young adult readers. The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes definitely fits the bill.
When a billionaire dies and leaves his entire fortune to ordinary teenager Avery Grambs, she has no idea what she's in for. In order to claim the inheritance, she must move into imposing old Hawthorne House, which is filled with secret passages, riddles, codes, and mysteries—and occupied by the grandsons of the late billionaire himself. Resentful at losing what should be their inheritance to a stranger, the Hawthorne boys set out to take her down, leaving Avery to play the ultimate game of survival.
