Even the fiercest devotee of the most fanciful novels can appreciate the beauty of a good nonfiction book—it's just a matter of finding the ones that will spark your interest. In the hunt for those, consider starting with recommendations from authors you already love—like bestselling author John Green, for example! Green's fiction favorites have been rounded out by his latest, a nonfiction book of funny, compelling, and thought-provoking essays called The Anthropocene Reviewed. Once you've finished that, consider exploring more of the vast and varied world of nonfiction through some of Green’s own favorites, which he shares below:

Hello, Books-A-Million readers! I’m John Green, author of novels like The Fault in Our Stars and Turtles All the Way Down. My first book of nonfiction, a collection of essays about our strange historical moment called The Anthropocene Reviewed, is out now, and signed copies are available at Books-A-Million.
I wanted to share a few of my favorite books of nonfiction published within the last few years. These books range from memoirs to medical history, but what they share is a clarity of voice and a searching curiosity. I love nonfiction that helps me learn while also astounding me with beautiful sentences, and here are some books that accomplish that feat for me:
Somebody’s Daughter by Ashley C. Ford
The Power of Ritual by Casper ter Kuile
World of Wonders by Aimee Nezhukumatathil
The Hard Crowd by Rachel Kushner
You Will Get Through This Night by Daniel Howell
How the Word Is Passed by Clint Smith
Upstream by Mary Oliver
The Gene: An Intimate History by Siddhartha Mukherjee
